Aqua Terra is a first showing of important new watercolours for 2010, whose subject is the architecture of land and sea.
Drawn from Newport (Rhode Island), Antigua and Venice, water is the recurrent theme, linking the powerful heeling facades of Grand Canal palazzi with 100-year-old schooners in full sail.
These watercolours are derived from a vigorous series of charcoal sketches done in situ either on a Venetian fishing boat or from a high-speed RIB chasing the regattas. Some of these sketches will be on view at the show together with the ingenious drawing machine on which they were done. |

ELY CATHEDRAL - NEW PAINTINGS |

I unveiled two NEW WATERCOLOURS of Ely Cathedral at the special lecture in St John´s College, Cambridge
Following the success of the limited edition print of my 2007 painting of the Octagon at Ely, which has raised a significant sum for the Cathedral, these paintings have been commissioned to benefit the Cathedral in a similar way

I am leading a watercolour and sketching study day at Stowe, hosted by and in aid of The World Monuments´ Fund.
I will be demonstrating and instructing how to depict Stowe´s architecture, both grand and intimate.
